The Republic of Bulgaria extends over an area of 110,911 sq. Km and is situated on the Balkan Peninsula of Southeastern Europe.
Since the 1970s Bulgaria has much significance for the international hunting. Bulgarian hunting grounds have an average area of 10,000 - 20,000 ha. The game populations are excellent and hunters may successfully combine hunting of different game species.
More than 50 years our country is a preferred destination for many European hunters. Bulgaria offers all of the European big game and you have the great possibility to hunt successfully 18 mammal species and 20 bird species. In some of our hunting grounds there is the unique opportunity to hunt up to 12 different game species at the same time.
In Bulgaria, wild boar hunting is loved, preferred and traditional. Hunting is from high seat, driven hunting, walking and stalking. There are very good wild boar trophies in all parts of the country. The national record was shot in the Rhodope Mountains - 158,20 CIC points. For 18 years (until 2004) it was the World record as well.
The other symbol of Bulgarian hunting traditions is the Red Deer. In many hunting areas trophies over 9 - 10 kg can be gained. Hunting Areas located in Northeast Bulgaria offer capital trophies over 12-14kg.
The population of predators in Bulgaria is very high, due to that fact their hunting is allowed and it is not under a special regime. During the winter months, you can successfully hunt wolfs and jackals through stalking or from a high seat.
